Slack Features that Keep Your Business Communication Organized
Slack App means business, but it certainly does not mean business as usual. Communication breakdowns result in inefficiencies and wasted time. Here at Master of Code we love Slack as it prevents this and keeps us organized and accountable, but in a fun way. That may sound like an oxymoron, but it isn’t.
Not too familiar with Slack? No problem: simply put, Slack App is a team communication tool for the 21st Century. It includes channels, direct messages, calls, and numerous other features.
Here are Slack features that we use to increase our effective team communication and save time:
Slack Promotes Collaboration
Everything you need, all in one place. The app has the ability to bring teams together in a fun way. Channels prompt team members to rally behind a project. Everything relating to a channel topic can be put in the channel, so team members can ideate, get organized, and be kept up-to-date, all within the channel.
Separate Topics, Collective Ideas
Channels can be divided by team, project, client, dog people vs cat people, or whatever else is relevant to your organization. Your team members can reside in their respective channels, but also have the ability to view other public channels. Maybe accounting wants insight into marketing’s crazy antics, or your CIO wants a better understanding of how innovation is progressing within your organization. Slack gives you the information that you need, right when you need it.
The Ease of Joining and Leaving Conversations
You can see what happened in the channel before you joined, so you don’t have to ask your colleague to forward you information. You can voluntarily leave a channel at any time (unlike an email chain).
The Integrations Make Life Easier
The base model of Slack does this already, but Slack+Apps=productivity city. There are so many amazing existing tools already, and more are being added all the time. You can also add GIFs to any conversation at any time.
